This arts and crafts project is easy enough for kids to make their own leprechaun trap for St. Patrick’s Day. It just takes a few simple steps to create and here is how you can do it.
What you’ll need:
- Empty cardboard box/shoebox
- Green construction paper or green paint
- St. Patrick’s Day garland
- St. Patrick’s Day embellishments
- Rainbow paper
- Cotton balls
- Pot of gold
1. Cut & Cover the box
Cut an opening out of the top of the box with scissors. Cover the outside of the box with green construction paper. Use clear tape to keep it in place. Don’t worry if the tape shows; we will cover that up in the next step.
2. Add the garland
Cover the edges of the box with the St. Patrick’s Day garland.
3. Decorate the box
Add decorative stickers and embellishments to the top and sides of the box.
4. Cover the trap
Cut out a piece of construction paper that is slightly larger than the opening at the top of the box.
Tape it to the inside of the box along one side of the paper. When your leprechaun walks on this part of the trap, he’ll fall in!
5. Make a rainbow
Cut out a rainbow shape from the rainbow paper and tape it to the box. Glue cotton balls at the base of the rainbow to make clouds.
6. Add a pot of gold
Add your pot of gold to the top of the trap to lure the leprechaun. Then your leprechaun trap is complete.
