Mac users who are new to the platform and come from a Windows background often quickly want to learn how to copy and paste on a Mac. Copy and paste is an essential function for almost any computer use. Here is how you can copy and paste on a Mac book.

There are two ways that you can copy and paste on a mac. One is using keyboard shortcuts — Command + C for copy and Command + V for paste. The other is using right click and select the “Copy” and “Paste” options manually.

How to copy and paste on a Mac using Keyboard

  1. Go to words or pictures you want to copy and paste.
  2. Highlight your desired text by clicking and dragging with your cursor.
  3. Press the Command key and hold it down, then press the C key to Copy.
  4. Press the Command key and hold it down, then press the V key to Paste.

How to copy and paste on a Mac using Right Click

  1. Click and drag over the text you want to copy.
  2. Right click on the highlighted text or image. You can also press Control on the keyboard and your mouse click. The right click will bring up the Options menu.
  3. Select the ‘Copy” option. This can also usually be found by going to the “Edit” section at the top.
  4. Place your cursor where you’d like to paste the copied content, right click and select Paste.
